RED ADMIRAL Ridden by Terri Lane
Beauty Cup // August Wk 1 workout
It was early in the morning and Terri was up and about already dressed. Grabbing her morning brew of coffee she put on her jacket and placed her cup in the sink. She walked out to the stables and made her way into Red Admiral's stall and smiled looking up at the 17h chestnut filly. She gently rubbed the fillies cheek kissing her right on her muzzle. "Hey there Red, you ready to go?" She said placing the halter of the red horse before walking her out to the track.
Terri was a bit confused to why she was her jockey the filly was a tall thoroughbred for her age. Luckily, though the filly was a distance runner 7-10 Furlongs was pretty much how she ran on a Dirt track. Placing the saddle on her back Terri smirked to how much the filly has grown. Throwing herself over the back of the filly Red Admiral rose her head feeling the light weight on her back and she whinnied with joy.
Terri urged the filly to a walk onto the track and when she got acquainted with the track Terri whistles the filly to come to a small trot to work out her muscles before the race. Coming to the the turn in mid trot Terri urged Red to do more and Red Admiral then came to a gallop working up her nerve and waking her up completely. So far the only other race Red Admiral had raced in was the Magic Night Stakes back in June coming in 5th place. It was her first race low results were to happen.
Although, Terri thought maybe entering Red Admiral into lower races would be best she just never argued with the stable owner. The filly came to a full run at the last stretch just to see how she would do and when coming the end of the stretch Terri gently pulled the reins back to have the filly come to a canter, and then a walk again hearing her breath arranging the bit in her mouth.
"Nice and easy now Addy." She said thinking they were done for the morning. The filly didn't have to run in the heat later on and figured to have her workout in the mornings just for the best. The filly had a lot to do as a 3 year old who had never raced before. But, this workout was not over. She would have the filly trot and again come to a full run as if she was racing but, still had the filly take it easy.
Pushing herself forward Red Admiral then came to a halt after a long workout. Terri urged the thoroughbred off the track so she could then rest for the race ahead of them. August was a big month and it seemed Bowen Acres had many runners this season.
